Fiction Writer
Richard Lapointe is a math and physics graduate from the University of Toronto. After selling a small software company in 2001, he moved to Manitoulin Island in northern Ontario, where he finished an historical novel begun many years earlier.
The first time Richard heard about artificial intelligence was in a Computer Science class while at university. It was here he learned about the Turing test that will tell us when a computer is able to think as well as a human.
Richard thinks Putin’s quote in the epigraph of The Messiah Project, today’s heightened interest in artificial intelligence, rising antisemitism, and COVID-19 may have been the sparks that got him started on The Messiah Project.
Once he began writing a thriller novel set in Israel, an unseen hand seemed to guide him — so he says. Whatever it was, it apparently had such a hold on him that he wrote a sequel — AI Resurrection. A third book in the series will be published in 2024. Sign up below if you want to be notified when AI Spirit becomes available.
